Asher Freeman, Founding Partner

Asher Freeman has extensive experience in government, politics, and urban planning in New York City, including serving as Chief of Staff to the Brooklyn Borough President. In this role, Asher led the Borough President’s transition into office, oversaw the hiring of over 50 employees, and managed all staff operations in Borough Hall. 

Prior to serving as Chief of Staff, he served as a Senior Advisor on Antonio Reynoso’s campaign for Borough President and as a Legislative and Land Use Director at the New York City Council. While at the NYC Council, Asher oversaw the passage of legislation to overhaul the private sanitation industry; led the office’s efforts to create the Bushwick Community Plan, a neighborhood-driven rezoning; and helped to manage the office’s discretionary budget. 

Prior to his work at the Council, Asher worked at NYC Housing Preservation and Development in the Neighborhood Planning Division where he facilitated land use approvals and community engagement for affordable housing projects in Manhattan. 

Asher earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Brooklyn College, and a Master of Science in Urban Planning from Pratt Institute. Born in Park Slope, Brooklyn, he now resides in Bed Stuy.
